Grades 1 – 4

Program Description

At the Mt. Hope Catholic Community of St. Dominic and St. Francis, we provide our students with the rich traditions of our Catholic faith.

We understand that faith formation is a life-long experience of living and learning -- it is faith in action.

It encompasses not only what is taught in our programs, but what is shared at home.

During this unprecedented time, we have changed our Faith Formation Program in an effort to keep our students; their families and our teachers safe.

We will not be holding in-person classes until it is safe to do so.

For our students in Grades 1-4, we will be using the Pflaum Gospel Weeklies Series. These are individual lessons based on the Sunday Gospels throughout the year.

Packets will be made for each student in each grade level. We will have a monthly pick-up packet schedule (click here) at St. Dominic's Church after the 9:30am liturgy (10:30am - 12noon.)

Our teachers will be creating some special activities and we may have some videos for our students to watch.

Our goal is to provide a comprehensive Faith Formation Program that is easy for our students to use; not a strain on parents and does not contribute to screen fatigue!

Sacramental Preparation

Our Sacramental Program for First Penance and First Communion is a 2-year program which begins in Grade One.

In Grade One our students will learn about belonging to our Church; God and creation;

Jesus and the Holy Spirit; and our call to be followers of Jesus. This lays an important  foundation

for what the children will learn in Grade 2.

Attendance in Grade One is required in order for a student to enter Grade Two.

Our textbook for Grade Two will also be from the Pflaum Company -- Sacrament Preparation Series.

Our students not only learn the basics of their faith but pray, celebrate and serve together.

At the Mt. Hope Catholic Community of St. Dominic and St. Francis parishes, we value the role of parents as the primary teachers of their children.

We will work together with parents, to assure that our students have an enriching faith formation experience.
